We use macadam (also known as tarmacadam or simply tarmac) in a two-layer system — a strong base course typically 60–80mm deep, topped with a fine wearing course of 20–30mm. The result is a smooth, resilient surface that handles everything from family cars to delivery lorries without complaint.

Tarmac is also one of the most eco-friendly surfacing options available. It's fully recyclable, and old tarmac can be milled up and reused in new installations. Modern macadam products use low-emission binders and can incorporate recycled aggregate content.
